Gaia (ARTIST FOCUS)
Fine art or street art....? that was my question when i stumbled accross Gaia a rising New york born artist whilst browsing Flickr. My subsequent google search and blog reading leads me to believe hes a street artist making waves not only on the international street art scene but with the fine art establishment in the US and Europe. Anyway your not hear to find out my opinion so ive laid out a couple of my favorite pieces and resources to make up your own mind....all i know is hes damm good and were gonna see and hear exited talk about this guy more and more....

I'd agree with you. Gaia is a street artist, but he's also studying fine art and that is definitely evident in his work. A lot of street artists have an art background, but with Gaia, it is very evident. He's taking very non-street art styles (though of course he's influenced by the street artist Swoon) and bringing them outside, which is what makes the best street art so powerful.
mos def....i think 99% of his appeal is hes taking the fine art to the streets blurring the lines between the too...at least as far as im concerned thats whats does it for me....didnt know he was studying fine art thats explains alot..thanks
